Research Fellows Feted in CLA 2014 Faculty Recognition Program

W-DARE Project Investigator Dr. Jesusa Marco was honored as one of three faculty retirees during the 2014 College of Liberal Arts Faculty Recognition Program held on February 27 at the Br. Andrew Gonzalez Multipurpose Hall. Having served the University for 30 years in various positions including as faculty member and chair of the Behavioral Sciences Department, as CLA Dean and as the University’s Human Resources Office Executive Director, Dr. Marco has also been Director of SDRC, during the years 2006 to 2009. The current W-DARE project addresses the needs of disabled women in gaining access to quality sexual and reproductive health information and services.

Among the other faculty members whose achievements were recognized were:

  • Dr. Feorillo Petronilo Demeterio III, research team member for the SDRC UNILAB-funded project “From the Margins to the Mainstream of Society: Transforming the Lives of Workers with Exceptionality, their Co-Workers, Business, Corporate Practices, Policies, and the Workplace,” for receiving the St. Miguel Febres Cordero Research Award for Outstanding Book/Monograph in Filipino for AY 2012-2013 and a publication assistant grant from the Austrian Embassy of Manila; being granted a visiting research professorship at the Catholic University of America; and being named Outstanding Alumni during the University of Santo Tomas 2014 Diamond Jubilee
  • Dr. Dennis Erasga, project team leader for the SDRC study “Whose Health, Whose Vulnerability: A Stakeholder Approach in Assessing Health-Related Vulnerability and Adaptation in the Philippines” funded by the Oscar M. Lopez Foundation, for receiving the St. Miguel Febres Cordero Research Award for Outstanding Book/Monograph in English for AY 2012-2013
  • Former SDRC Director Dr. Dennis Trinidad of the International Studies Department for being awarded a visiting research fellowship from the Institute of Developing Economies-Japan External Trade Organization (IDE-JETRO)

Former researcher Elaine Tolentino of the International Studies Department was also acknowledged for obtaining her Ph.D. in Law major in International Politics from Jilin University, China, as was Marlon Era of the Behavioral Sciences Department for recently defending his Ph.D. Dissertation at DLSU.
