Center Publishes Primer on Scholarship and StuFAP

Ikaw ang next iskolar! Mga Publicly-Funded Scholarships, StuFAP, SUCs at mga Batayan sa Batas, a primer on scholarships and student financial assistance programs, is being published by the Social Development Research Center. An off-shoot of the SDRC Project “Comprehensive Study on Scholarship and Student Financial Assistance Programs in the Philippines” funded by the Australian Government Overseas Aid Program (AusAID), the primer is written in Filipino and introduces nine steps to accessing government scholarship or student financial assistant programs (StuFAP); nine qualifications that government programs seek in student applicants; ten government agencies that offer scholarship or StuFAP programs; and a directory of 110 Philippine state universities and colleges, from which applicants can locate programs available in their vicinity.  The primer comes with a bonus section on leading private universities that also offer scholarships and financial assistance.

Ikaw ang next iskolar! seeks to assist deserving students by providing information on how the government finances education through publicly-funded scholarships and student financial assistance. By identifying requirements for application and where programs can be accessed, it is hoped that a greater number of students who have completed basic education—especially those residing in far flung areas of the country—may be afforded the opportunity to pursue higher education.

Ikaw ang next iskolar!is written by Dr. Roberto E. Javier of the DLSU Department of Psychology.
